Why the homepage lookup is exact-match only
The public image checker hashes the uploaded bytes exactly as received on the server and compares that fingerprint against stored records.
That makes the result trustworthy, but it also means edited, resized, recompressed, or screenshot versions of an image will not match the original capture fingerprint.
